Cinta Jawa Cafe Shibuya - Halal Indonesian Feast You MUST Try!
Written by KHAN| 2022-09-04| Halal Food in Japan
After visiting the Yokohama branch of the Indonesian Halal restaurant Cinta Jawa Cafe, I decided to have lunch with my friends at the Shibuya branch one day when we went to Shibuya for a hangout. There are a few Halal options in Shibuya. The Shibuya branch is a bit far from the station and we had to walk for around 7 minutes by the time we reached there, we were drenched in sweat. Let me warn you, the air conditioning system is not that great at this branch. It took us quite a while to cold down and placed our orders.
We saw almost the same menu as the Yokohama branch but the price was a little bit higher. For example, the Nasi Lemak Campur cost 100yen more than the Yokohama branch. We ordered a Beef Tripe Soup, 2 white rice, Rendang Daging (Stewed Beef with Coconut Sauce), and Ayam Serundeng (Fried Chicken with Grated Coconut). I am mentioning the price below:
Beef Tripe Soup: 1020 yen
Beef with Coconut Sauce: 1400 yen
Fried Chicken with Grated Coconut: 850 yen
Steamed Rice: 310 yen
All the food items on the menu are 100% Halal. The food was served really quickly. First, they got our order wrong, they served us two Beef Tripe Soups but we only ordered one. When we mentioned the mistake they were totally fine with it and fixed our order. When the food arrived, it was smelling really good. The food looked really delicious at first glance. Here’s my review:
Beef Tripe Soup: I personally loved this dish. The amount was a lot and the beef tripes were also plenty in amount. The beef tripes were so soft, they were melting in our mouths. The flavor was really pleasant to eat and it tasted really good overall. They provided a small piece of lemon which increased the flavor 2x when it was squeezed. I would rate this dish 8.5/10
Stewed Beef with Coconut Sauce: This dish was flavorful and had a good amount of meat but it felt a bit expensive. The curry was a bit dry but overall this dish was also good. I would rate this dish 7.5/10.
Fried Chicken with Grated Coconut: This dish was 100 yen extra compared to their normal Fried Chicken dish, so they were charging the extra 100 yen for the grated coconut which I think was worth it. I really liked the crunchy-fried chicken and it was melting in my mouth. I would rate this dish 9/10.
Overall we had a good experience with the food. The taste was amazing even though their AC could be improved, especially during the summer.
