Cherry blossom season in Japan is somewhere between February and April. This time Japan is more vibrant with delicate cherry blossoms and different varieties of Sakura trees. It is the best time to enjoy the Sakura season by going to Sakura festivals and trying seasonal Sakura food items.
The most famous food item during the Sakura season is SAKURA MOCHI TAIYAKI. What is Taiyaki? Taiyakli is a Japanese fish-shaped cake commonly sold as street food. Usually, the regular Taiyaki’s use red bean paste (sweetened adzuki beans), sweet potato, or custard in their fillings. Sakura mochi taiyaki is made to represent Sakura. During spring all the taiyaki stores make Sakura mochi taiyaki either with a pink filling or a pink color taiyaki. But in Sakura Mochi Taiyaki the filling is red bean paste with Sakura leaves, which gives a sweet and salty flavor. The price of Taiyaki is also very cheap usually from 290Yen, which is pocket-friendly Muslim-friendly street food.
Taiyaki shops can be found anywhere in Japan, and most of them are safe for Muslims, as it depends on the fillings. The custard filling is not safe at all whereas other fillings are safe. Sakura Mochi Taiyaki is also Muslim-friendly. The famous pink color Sakura Mochi Taiyaki can be found in Kawazu (Shizuoka) during the Kawazu Sakura festival which usually starts in February. Other than Kawazu, Sakura viewing, and Taiyaki can also be enjoyed around Tokyo in Ueno Park, Yoyogi park, Shinjuku Gyoen, Meguro River, etc. And other cities in Japan.
One of Halalfoodinjapan’s findings is a Taiyaki shop near Tokorozawa station which sells many kinds of Taiyaki and nowadays sells seasonal Sakura Mochi Taiyaki. The shop's name is Naruto Taiyaki it sells great fresh Muslim friendly Taiyaki at their shop. The prices of Taiyaki are different depending on the fillings. The normal regular taiyaki is just 260 Yen whereas their Sakura Mochi Taiyaki is 290 Yen. Now Muslims can enjoy Japanese Muslim-friendly street food also and we hope in the future we can find more Halalfoodinjapan.
