Japan is full of different people around the World. It is hard for Many of them are Muslims to find their home country foods here in Japan. However, many people have opened their home-style restaurants because they do not want the people who come from their countries to feel bad living in a foreign country. Bangladeshi food is very rare to find in Japan. I have never heard of an authentic spot that serves Bangladeshi food till the day I went to AAHAR Bangladeshi RESTAURANT AND KEBAB.
Around Kawagoe city, there is a newly opened restaurant is named AAHAR BANGLADESHI RESTAURANT AND KEBAB. The restaurant is about 7-minutes walking distance from Kasumigaseki station. It is very easily accessible as it is just in front of Tokyo international university.
The restaurant is Bangladeshi and you can get authentic Bangladeshi dishes here. They also serve kebabs at their restaurant. The restaurant is 100% Halal without a doubt. The owner and staff are from Bangladesh and they are Muslims.
By entering this restaurant, you will be mesmerized by seeing the rickshaw paintings on their wall. The best thing about this restaurant is that they do have a prayer space upstairs. Men and women both can pray in two different rooms on the 2nd floor. This is so good and easily accessible for Muslim students in Tokyo international university, they can pray here even for the Muslims who are living nearby.
I ordered their kebab plate which was very cheap at first, it was just 500 yen. The chicken flavor was totally different from the regular kebab shops in Japan. It tasted like a Bangladeshi-style kebab because it was infused with good and different spices.
This restaurant doesn’t have any menu because they serve different meals every single day. The day when I visited; I ordered very beautiful food on a sand plate. They serve their foods in a traditional way like water in steel glasses and food on sand plates. The dish had rice and 5different kinds of curries with it along with salad and lemon.
Upon asking, the staff kindly explained to me the names of the curries that I had on my plate. They were potato bhorta, lentil bhorta, eggplant bharta, dry fish bhuna, chicken, and potato curry.
I definitely can tell you that it was an authentic Bangladeshi-style dish. That is how I really enjoyed having my meal. The taste was surprisingly little spicy but very delicious even though it was spicy for me, I was craving for more.
And the secret behind the amazing Bangladeshi food is a woman who is actually the chef and prepares every meal by herself. In other words, home-cooked Bangladeshi food.
