"Tandur was born in Japan on 6 June 1986. It was opened in Shirokanedai, Minato-ku, Tokyo, as a North Indian restaurant by a skilled North Indian chef. At that time there were very few Indian restaurants in Japan, and it was started by the owner and two cooks who wanted to spread the taste of India. Today, we have branches in Ebisu, Meguro and Kawaba as well as in department stores. Due to road expansion and other reasons, the Shirokanedai location is no longer available, but the customers who came to the restaurant when it was first opened still come back for the taste of Tandur. Once, a customer who happened to see the restaurant's symbol in front of our Meguro branch said: ""I've seen this symbol before, was this the same restaurant that used to be in Shirokanedai? He came to visit us. And he was very happy to hear that it tastes the same ...... as it did 20+ years ago. In fact, when the customer was a child, his parents used to take him to eat Tandur's curry all the time. We will continue to grow and evolve to keep the same taste and offer new pleasures to our customers."
