Eid-al-Fitre Prayer at Tokyo Camii Mosque - A Very Unique Experience

Tokyo Camii is a monumental Ottoman-style mosque from the 1930s offering tours & a museum of Turkish culture and one of the biggest & most beautiful mosques of Japan!

This year during Eid-al-Fitr, it was my pleasure to perform the Eid prayer at the great Tokyo Camii mosque and Alhamdulillah, it was an amazing experience. Seeing so many Muslims from around the world gathering for their Eid prayer in one place was such a nice view and I felt a strong bond of community. It was my first time seeing so many Muslim people from so many diverse cultures in one place and it was magical.

Me and my friends and I woke up really early in the morning to reach Tokyo as we live far from the moque. We reached the mosque around 7:50 am and we were surprised to see thousands of people there! There were huge lines of Muslim brothers and sisters but evena fter so amny people, it was a peaceful environment! Everyone was following the line. There were separate lines for men and women. Tokyo Camii arranged more than one Eid Jamaat so that everyone gets the chance to perform the salat. We had to wait for 20 minutes in the line to get the chance to say our prayer. In the meantime, we were able to interact with other Muslim briothers and sisters which was a beautiful experience. When we entered the mosque, we were provided polythenes to protect our shoes. Praying the Eid prayer inside the mosque was amazing. There were separate praying spaces for women and men. People also brought their little kids. The decoration of the mosque was really gorgeous. The whole environment was really festive!

No food items were distributed this time as there were a lot of people and a pandemic is going on. The mosque had the facility to donate Zakat and Fitra inside. Overall it was an awesome experience saying the Eid prayer!

Eid-al-Adha is coming and you all can also go and pray your Eid salat at Tokyo Camii! The mosque is really beautiful and it is such a wonderful experience praying with Muslim people around the from, from exotic cultural backgrounds! May Allah bless us all.
